Dr. Elizabeth Sawin is Co-Founder and Co-Director of Climate Interactive. Beth and her colleagues create user friendly computer simulations that allow leaders, journalists, and citizens to discover effective solutions to climate change and related issues, like food, water, health, and racial and economic equity.
A biologist with a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Beth trained in system dynamics and sustainability with Donella Meadows and worked at Sustainability Institute, the research institute founded by Meadows, for 13 years. Beth’s work focuses on helping people find solutions that prevent future climate change, build resilience to unavoidable climate impacts, and provide opportunities to people who need them most. She writes and speaks on this topic to local, national, and international audiences.
Outside of Science: Beth has lived for 20 years in an eco-village in Vermont, and she and her husband grow much of their own food.
